I want to take a few minutes to say Thank You to this year's students, their parents, and families. As for my students, I want to say Thank You for all of your hard work this year. You worked together in class, helped each other as learners, and grew as young people. You spent MANY hours outside of class studying, reading, and working on History Day Projects (which turned out fantastically, I'll add) and I appreciate every minute you spent doing all of those things!
I'd also like to thank their parents! Even though I started the school year a week late and didn't get to meet all of you, I'd still like to thank each and every one of you for trusting me with your child's education. It's a huge responsibility that I don't take lightly. I hope that I exceeded your expectations as your child's teacher this past year.
As for student's families - grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. - I want to thank you, too. I'm sure that many of you sacrificed time with your student while they worked on their school work. Time is a precious commodity that we can't recover. As a teacher, I respect the sacrifice that you made. I assure you that I gave my level best to use every minute wisely!
Finally, I begrudgingly say Farewell to the class of 2016. You probably didn't notice, but all of you grew as Christians, as friends, as students, and as young people this past year. We - your teachers - certainly noticed even though we may not have mentioned it for fear of embarrassing you! For my part, I hope I've helped you prepare for your future outside of Liberty Christian High School - whatever that future may be. I'll leave you with words of wisdom from the Gospel according to Saint Matthew:
"You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father." Matthew 5:14-16
May Almighty God Bless You All on Your Journey!
